The Bad Ass Coffee Co. will open its first Colorado franchise on Friday in Greeley.

Calvin Enterprises, which owns the coffee store, will open the shop in St. Michsout of U.S. 34 Bypass on 65th Avenue.

"Bad Ass Coffee Company will soon be followed by Marble Slab Creamery and WheatFields Restaurant," said Linda Naticchioni, director of operations for Calvin Enterprises. "The Bad Ass Coffee environment matches perfectly with the 'paradise found' ambiance of St. Michael's and will be a great addition to Greeley."

Founded in Kona, Hawaii, The Bad Ass Coffee Co.name stems from the donkeys that carried heavy loads of coffee up and down the mountains. The company is dedicated to providing customers with a little "Aloha in every cup."

The store will be managed by Laurence "Lorry" Ver Steeg. Ver Steeg, who has six years of coffee management experience, is a recent transplant from Iowa and lives in Fort Collins with his wife.

A store grand opening is set for March 31-April 1 in conjunction with the Irish Spring Fling at St. Michael's. The opening will include hula dancers, free coffee giveaways and a Hawaiian blessing.

Calvin Enterprises, which owns the developmental rights for three states, including Colorado, Nevada and Arizona, said this first location will soon be followed by a second store in Las Vegas.
