Two men arrested for burglaries

Print Comment
Two men were arrested early Sunday after they were seen breaking into cars in central Greeley, then tried to escape from police in their car and crashed into a fence across the street.

About 2 a.m. Sunday, police were called to a parking lot in the 1200 block of 26th Avenue on a report of someone breaking into cars.

Officers saw one man break a car window and steal something, and as officers approached the two men jumped into their car and sped away.

As they were attempting to get away, the driver apparently tried to hit an officer's car, causing the officer to take evasive action to avoid injury, Greeley police spokesman Joe Tymkowych said.

"The suspects then ran into a fence in the parking lot of 1206 26th Avenue, causing the vehicle to stall," he said.

The suspects then attempted to run on foot from the officers and were arrested in the 1100 block of 25th Avenue. Both suspects are being held in Weld County Jail on a $25,000 bond. Suspects are identified as:

Donny Pulliam, 18, Fort Collins, held on charges of first-degree assault on a police officer, five counts first-degree criminal trespass, five counts felony theft, five counts criminal mischief, vehicular eluding, hit-and-run.

Charges against Daniel Silhasek, 19, LaPorte are first-degree assault on a police officer, and five counts each of first-degree criminal trespassing, theft and criminal mischief.

Police recovered the stolen items when the men were arrested.
