First, in Germany, we had the great wall of "Communist imperialism." Now, in Arizona, we're going to have the great wall of "capitalist imperialism."
Imperialism is a mortal sin. It is a sin against the Holy Spirit. It will not be forgiven. Weapons of mass destruction are weapons against the Holy Spirit. The evil and destruction of this sin will not be forgiven either.
Individuals and nation states be aware of your mortal sin and your immortal soul. Todos somos una familia. We are all one human family, and we must look out and take care of one another.
"Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven." The kingdom of God is a kingdom of love.
Imperialism in any way, shape or form is not love. It is hate. Love can only start at home. Once it is there in your heart and soul, then its cup overflows and encompasses the world. And love nourishes all it comes in contact with. Only love gives life to being. Without love, there is no being, there is no God.

Longtime friend remembered for his quaint sayings and sense of humor
Recently a friend/acquaintance passed away. For whatever reason, such moments are making more of an impression all the time. Probably because the old Grim Reaper is lurking around the corner somewhere.
The person who passed away is Bernard J. Monheiser; some may recognize the name. Bernie is a big bear of a man whose joy in life while in high school was hugging people, not because he was affectionate, but because he enjoyed hearing bones crack. We all knew Bernie was in the area when everyone was scattering like a covey of quail. Somehow we all survived and went our merry way after graduation.
My next encounter with Bernie was while working for the county. Bernie enjoyed working as a deputy. He got to hug a lot of people, but his main forte was his "Berra-isms" or "Bernie-isms."
Some of his best: Jack Redus was the on-air talent at KFKA radio station. Jack would stop by the police department and sheriff's office to pick up reports. Now, Jack also had a country music program on KFKA going under the name Cactus Jack Redus. Well it wasn't long until Bernie dubbed him as Cactus Jack Redus, the poor man's Steve Allen. Never knew a man could grind his teeth that much.
When someone was appearing a bit stuffy, Bernie would launch into, "If you can't dazzle them with brilliance, than baffle them with bull."
Whenever a case involved juveniles, his advice to the parents was, "As soon as I get my kids raised, I'll tell you how to raise yours."
He spoke of his house built along the Poudre River as the Monheiser Ranch, or when the river rises, the Flowing M.
When asked where he was going, a response was, "Going out to spread a little hate and discontent."
Rest in peace, Bernard J. Monheiser.

Why I don't call Greeley 'home' any longer
As a former Greeley resident, I think the author of "The Absolutely Worst Places to Live in America" missed some big reasons why we are glad to no longer call Greeley home. These would include the cost of living, gangs and gang violence, illegal aliens and schools that are among the worst in the nation.
Until these matters are addressed, the smell seems insignificant.
