Stampede names Lonestar as July 4 headliner

Print Comment
The Greeley Independence Stampede added Lonestar to its growing roster of headliners for this summer's festival, it was announced Wednesday.

Lonestar will play the Stampede's coveted July 4 spot, which in the past has featured Kenny Rogers, Toby Keith, Brooks and Dunn and Kelly Clarkson.

The band is one of the more popular country acts of the last two decades and just released another hit album, "Mountains." One of the reasons for that is its willingness to build its following by playing dozens of summer festivals.

"They've been here a couple times before," said Justin Watada, spokesman for the Stampede, "and every time they've been here, they've been a great concert. We're really excited about it."

The band should play material from its latest albums as well as favorites that span its career, including "Mr. Mom," "My Front Porch Looking In" and "Amazed."

Lonestar has 10 No. 1 hits, Vocal Group of the Year honors from the Country Music Association and Academy of Country Music and six Grammy nominations.

The band has also sold more than 10 million albums.

Brad Paisley and Trace Adkins with Terri Clark were announced earlier this week as acts for this summer's lineup.

BREAKOUT:

Tickets for Lonestar are $27 to $41 and can be purchased at the Greeley Stampede Box Office in Island Grove Regional Park, open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in December. Call 356-BULL (2855), go through any Colorado King Soopers store or visit www.ticketswest.com.
