Staff Reports
The first part of a new year brings new adventures for many people.
That is no different for 23-year-old Amy Jo Fields of Falcon, who officially took the reins as the 52nd First Lady of Rodeo for Colorado during the National Western Stock Show in Denver. Fields will represent Colorado at many Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association rodeos and other agriculture events through out not only Colorado but around the United States.
Fields emerged from a field of seven finalists, following a four-day intense competition to win the title of Miss Rodeo Colorado 2007 during last year's Greeley Independence Stampede. Fields not only captured the title but also won the categories of photogenic, horsemanship and appearance.
Fields is a 2006 graduate of Colorado State University with a degree in civil engineering.
Fields takes over the title from Tara Spencer, who reigned as the 2006 Miss Rodeo Colorado and completed her reign during the Miss Rodeo America pageant held in Las Vegas during the National Finals Rodeo, the last week of November. Spencer, of Loveland, was named as a top 10 finalist during that competition.
