Staff Reports

Marlene I. Strathe, University of Northern Colorado provost from 1998-2003, has been named interim president of Oklahoma State University.

Strathe joined OSU as provost and senior vice president in July 2003. As provost, she has overseen the day-to-day operations of the Stillwater campus and has served as chief academic officer of the OSU system. Her responsibilities have included oversight of nine colleges, including the Honors College and library as well as scholar development, academic services to students and assessment.

"I look forward to working with the regents and the broad OSU community during this time, and I appreciate the confidence they have shown by naming me the interim president and CEO of the system," Strathe said in an OSU release. "It is important during a time of transition to reaffirm our shared commitments and purposes to our students and members of the OSU family."

OSU, the land grant university of Oklahoma, consists of five campus locations enrolling more than 32,000 students with more than 22,000 students on the main campus.

Strathe was named to the post following the appointment of OSU President David J. Schmidly to the presidency of the University of New Mexico.

In 2002, Strathe was named one of five outstanding women of Weld County.
