Alexander released, Mustard signed for 2nd time this month

DENVER -- The Denver Broncos waived veteran tight end Stephen Alexander Saturday and signed converted tackle Chad Mustard for the second time this month.

Alexander was one of four tight ends on the Broncos roster last season when he caught 18 passes, including two for touchdowns, as he split tight end duties with Tony Scheffler.

Alexander had been hampered by a calf injury during training camp and had been listed as questionable for Sunday's game against Oakland.

Mustard was also on Denver's roster last season as a tight end but now plays tackle.

Denver waived Mustard Sept. 1, resigned him Sept. 8 then waived him Tuesday.

A fourth-year player, Mustard played in 12 games last season for the Broncos, including four starts. He caught two passes for 23 yards.
