Motorists driving Interstate 25 should plan for a little extra driving time in the coming months.
The Colorado Department of Transportation will begin work on Sunday to fix and maintain the concrete roadway between Mead and Fort Collins from mile-markers 244 through 270. The project, weather permitting, is scheduled to be completed by the end of December.
Gerry Padilla, the CDOT project engineer, said that the preventative maintenance program is essential to maintaining a stretch of interstate that supports approximately 65,000 vehicles a day.
Work will take place from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Sundays through Thursdays on both northbound and southbound lanes, and will involve single-lane closures as well as ramp closures.
