NCMC named one of nation's top cardiovascular hospitals

Thomson Healthcare has named North Colorado Medical Center one of the top 100 hospitals for cardiovascular care.

It is the only hospital in northern Colorado and one of two named in the state to make to the list, based on hospitals' performance treating heart attacks, congestive heart failure, coronary artery bypass surgery and cardiac catheritization procedures, according to a press release issued by NCMC.

The 2007 winners were announced in Modern Healthcare magazine, the release stated.

Thomson Healthcare scored facilities in eight performance areas: risk-adjusted medical mortality, risk-adjusted surgical mortality, risk-adjusted complications, core measures score, percentage of CABG patients with internal mammary artery use, procedure volume, severity-adjusted average length of stay, and wage- and severity-adjusted average cost, the press release stated.


The release stated: "Thomson Healthcare, a part of The Thomson Corporation, is the leading provider of decision support solutions that help organizations across the healthcare industry improve clinical and business performance."
