«Man to discuss his mission in Spain
Elder Christopher Dalton has returned after serving two years in the Barcelona, Spain, mission for the Church of Jesus-Christ of Latter-day Saints. Dalton served in several areas of Spain, including Palma de Mallorca, an island in the Mediterranean. He became a zone leader for the last 71/2 months of his mission.
Dalton said, "I love Spain, the people and the Spanish language. ... I love the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and sharing it with others has brought me much joy. I have had many spiritual and faith-promoting experiences that will bless my life forever."
At 11 a.m. Sunday, Dalton will speak in the Ashcroft Ward about his experiences, feelings and testimony of Jesus Christ. Anyone interested in Spain, the church or hearing his report is invited to attend.
Dalton, who is the son of Dan and Susan Dalton, graduated from Greeley West High School, where he played trumpet in the band and jazz bands. He participated in All State Choir in 2004. He attended a year of college at Brigham Young University and plans to return to BYU next summer to complete his degree in computer engineering.
«Missionary will spend two years in McAllen, Texas
Tristen Veron DeWitt will serve two years mission in the McAllen, Texas, Spanish-speaking mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. DeWitt will report Feb. 6 to the Missionary Training Center in Provo, Utah.
"I am excited to serve my church and my Lord," DeWitt said. Two of his uncles also are serving missions for the LDS church.
DeWitt, son of Norman and Barbara DeWitt, is the youngest of seven children. He has earned his Eagle Scout award and is a 2006 graduate of Roosevelt High School in Johnstown. He has worked for Advocate Homes and, after his mission, plans to attend Brigham Young University, where he will major in construction management.
«Dinner theater to present 'Sunong'
"Sunong" will be the featured presentation of the Wycliffe Dinner Theatre from 6-9 p.m. Feb. 9 and 10 at the First United Presbyterian Church, 1321 9th Ave., Greeley. "Sunong" is a portrayal of how God calls and prepares national Bible translators from some of the most difficult areas of the world to fulfill the Great Commission of Jesus. «Cajun Boil planned
On Feb. 2 at the Ault VFW, St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ault is sponsoring a Cajun Boil, Dance and Silent Auction to raise money for the church. The meal will be served starting at 6:30 p.m. A D.J. from Cruz'n Soundz will play music for the dance from 8-11 p.m. Tickets are $12 for adults, $5 for kids 6-11 and free for kids 5 and younger. «Speaker will tell you how to cut debt
West Greeley Baptist Church is hosting the workshop "How To Get Out Of Debt in 5-7 Years, Including Your Mortgage, With the Money You Already Make," with Bob Marette. Marette is a noted financial advisor in the Denver area and has spoken at many churches around the country, on TV and radio. His daily program, "Out of Debt with Bob Marette," may be heard along the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains.
The seminar will be from 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. today at West Greeley Baptist Church, 3251 22nd St. Take a list of your debts and a calculator. There is no cost for the workshop; however, all attendees are asked to bring two cans of food for a local food ministry. Child care and continental breakfast will be provided. «Lutheran Faith conference is Feb. 2
Our Lutheran Faith Theological Conference will be from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Feb. 2 at Gloria Christi Lutheran Church, 1322 31st Ave., Greeley. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. Topic of the conference is "The Lamb on the Altar: The Old Testament Basis for New Testament Worship." The conference will feature historic liturgy with Pastor William Weedon. Weedon is a regular guest on the radio program "Issues, Etc." and is pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hamel, Ill.
