Greeley West principal leaving

Greeley West Principal Bob Harr is leaving to take the reins of Valley High School in Gilcrest.

Harr informed his students Thursday that he was stepping down as principal after three years on the job.

Harr was offered the position with Weld County School District 1 on Monday.

He had been at Greeley West for 25 years and has personal ties to the school.

He graduated from the school in 1978 and has a daughter there who is a junior.

Harr was a teacher at the school for 15 years and served as assistant principal for seven years.

"After 25 years, I'm looking for new challenges," he said.

Harr's resignation comes after Mary Lauer, principal at Greeley Central, announced she was leaving the district for another job.

Harr's final day at Greeley West will be June 30.
