Sprinkler puts out laundry room fire at North Range Behavioral Health

A fire sprinkler put out a fire at a North Range Behavioral Health Facility early Thursday morning that may have been started by a clothes dryer malfunction.

Crews arrived after the fire — which caused an estimated $1,500 of damage — was put out in the building’s laundry room, 2350 3rd St., by a fire sprinkler.

Fire extinguishing systems at the building worked as they were supposed to, according to a release from the Union Colony Fire Rescue Authority. The system alerted residents, who evacuated the building, to the fire and contacted the firefighters.
There were no injuries, according to the release.
