120 gallons of diesel fuel spill in hit-and-run accident near Longmont

A hazmat technician was called out to a hit-and-run crash Thursday night about five miles northeast of Longmont.

The technician was needed after about 120 gallons of diesel fuel spilled as a result of the crash, which occurred at 8:34 p.m. on Weld County Road 1 just north of Colo. 66.

According to Colorado State Patrol Trooper Gilbert Mares the crash involved a semi and a pickup truck. The driver of the semi, which rolled on its side, was not injured in the crash. The three people from the pickup, however, fled the scene and have not been found, Mares said.
