Hit-and-run victim identified

A pedestrian who was severely injured on Interstate 25 near the Colorado-Wyoming state line early Thursday morning has been identified by the Colorado State Patrol.

Anthony W. Gonzalez, 32, of Cheyenne remains in critical condition today at the Medical Center of the Rockies. He was struck by a hit-and-run pickup truck at 2:44 a.m. Thursday on I-25, about six miles south of the Wyoming border.

Investigators are looking for a large Ford vehicle, possibly a 650 series or larger. The vehicle did not stop after the pedestrian was hit. The pickup likely is missing its right front turn signal housing and may also have noticeable right front damage.

Patrol reports Friday stated police believe alcohol or drugs may have been involved in the incident.
