Rocky Mountain National Park closes campground because of trees killed by mountain pine beetle

Print Comment
The Timber Creek Campground on the west side of Rocky Mountain National Park will be temporarily closed until early July for tree removal.

Most trees in Timber Creek Campground have been killed by the mountain pine beetle epidemic, and park workers will remove those trees to reduce the risk of injury and damage from falling trees.

There will be other temporary closures in the park this year to remove trees as well.

Updates on the status of specific backcountry campsites are available through the park's backcountry office.

For more information about the park, call (970) 586-1206.
