Stanford prof to deliver keynote at writing conference

Aims Community College will host the largest writing conference of its kind in northern Colorado on April 18 for college English teachers.

The 2008 Colorado Community College Conference on Composition will be an all day event at the Aims Corporate Education Center, 5590 W. 11th St.

Keynote speaker will be Andrea Lunsford, director of writing at Stanford University. Lunsford is the author of numerous books, including "The Everyday Writer," and "Essays on Classical Rhetoric and Modern Discourse."

The conference focuses on the teaching of developmental and first-year composition students. Awards to be given out at this year's conference include a Teaching Excellence Award for one college professor and a $250 scholarship to one graduate student who is majoring in English Composition instruction.
