Colorado author to visit Weld libraries

Print Comment
Colorado author Alane Ferguson will visit two Weld Library District libraries this week to present a free teen writers' workshop.

Ferguson, the author of several novels and mysteries including "The Christopher Killer," "The Angel of Death" and "The Circle of Blood," will spend time with teens ages 12-19 sharing how she became a writer, where her ideas come from and how she does her research. In addition, Ferguson will teach participants how to create a plot, characters and dialogue, as well as the best ways to use adjectives and adverbs, tags and a plethora of other writing tips. She'll also do some hands-on work with participants and edit their story starters and demonstrate how small tweaks in writing can make a huge impact.

Ferguson has been nominated for and received several awards including The Edgar Award, Children's Crown Classic Award, the American Bookseller's Association's "Pick of the List," and has been on numerous ALA Recommended Books for Reluctant Young Readers and Young Adult's Choice list.

Ferguson will be at the Carbon Valley Regional Library, 7 Park Ave. in Firestone, from 4-7 p.m. Thursday and the Farr Regional Library, 1939 61st Ave. in Greeley, from 5-8 p.m. on Friday. For more information, call (970) 506-8560.
