Two U.S. Representatives from Colorado join to call for earmark reform

Print Comment
Two Colorado U.S. Representatives teamed up Thursday in an effort to change earmarks.

Taking a bipartisan stand against earmarks, U.S. Reps. Mark Udall and Marilyn Musgrave held a joint conference Thursday urging leaders in both parties to mend the earmark system in place, according to a press release from Musgrave's office.

Both Musgrave and Udall have publicly stated they will not request earmarks this year in hopes of changing the system, which needs more transparency and oversight, according to the press release.

This is not the first time the two representatives have worked together. The two have fought for veterans' health care, advocated for the wilderness designation in the Rocky Mountain National Park and obtained disaster assistance funding for Colorado's ranchers and farmers, according to the press release.
