Inert grenades were found in welding equipment Friday afternoon after the Northern Colorado Bomb Squad responded to a report of the weapons in Fort Collins.
The squad, with members from the Larimer County Sheriff's Office, the Fort Collins Police Services and the Loveland Police Department, responded about 12:45 p.m. Friday to the 300 block of North U.S. 287 on the report of possible grenades.
When the squad arrived, it found three metal cylinders that are typically used to transport welding rods, according to a release. Reporters of the rods thought the grenades were inside the rods, which were in a truck being transported to an auction site.
The squad used X-ray equipment to examine the contents and found no live explosives, but did find inert grenades probably used for practice.
Larimer County deputy sheriffs are investigating the ownership of the vehicle.
