Atmosphere's new album "When Life Gives You Lemons
One of hip-hop's most enigmatic artist's new album hits stores this week.

Atmosphere's new album "When Life Gives You Lemons You Paint That S--- Gold" will be released Tuesday and promises to be one of the year's premiere hip-hop albums.

This will be Atmosphere's fifth studio album and appears as if it may differ from the group's previous works.

While members MC Slug (Sean Daley) and Ant (Anthony Davis) out of Minneapolis made a name for themselves with their harsh yet intelligent and complex rhymes layered with catchy beats, it appears the duo may have found a softer side with this new album.

Perhaps the most poignant sign that Atmosphere has evolved since the release of its last album in 2005 is the fact that the deluxe edition of the CD includes a children's book written by Slug.

Not too many rappers out there who also dabble in writing children's books. The 40 page gold embossed hard cover book illustrated children's story is accompanied by a bonus DVD with live footage of the group.

Listening to the album, currently streaming on the group's myspace page, shows a deeper more introspective look at Slug. The album's first single, "Shoulda Known," takes a candid look at addiction.

Atmosphere will swing through Denver on May 17 and 18th performing three shows on the tour of the album.
