Birding by bike

Nunn resident Gary Lefko will lead a birding-by-bike field trip on the Poudre Trail at 8 a.m. Saturday.

Lefko, an avid birder who runs the Web site ColoradoBirder.Ning.com, scouted 44 species in four hours two weekends ago, so the birding should be good.

Meet at 8 a.m. at the Island Grove Regional Park trailhead along 11th Avenue just south of O Street. Look for the blue Subaru Outback. Contact (970) 897-2454 for more information.

Classic bike tour

The 21st annual Community Classic Bike Tour will take place Sunday, May 18, through the foothills of Larimer County in Loveland and Fort Collins.

There are four distances to ride, a 62-mile, a 37-mile, a 30-mile and a short ride of up to 10 miles. The rides begin and end at McKee Medical Center in Loveland, 2000 Boise Ave.

Entry fees before May 1st are $50 for adults, $25 for teens and $10 for children. The fee for all other short riders is $10. The fees benefit Transitional Care at McKee Medical Center that helps bridge the gap between hospital and home.

Riders may find additional information, route maps and register at www.communityclassicbiketour.com.

Vehicle use map available for Pawnee National Grassland

The Pawnee National Grassland motor vehicle use map is now available on the Web and will be available by mid-May in U.S. Forest Service offices.

The map identifies all routes open to motorized travel on the Grassland.

The map is part of a national effort to address conflicts and confusion with motorized travel on forests and grasslands.

Maps are available online at www.fs.fed.us/r2/arnf/recreation/travel_mgmt/mvum/index.shtml.
