Print Comment
Power was restored to Hudson Sunday morning after a vehicle struck a power pole and knocked the eletricity out in the area, said Deputy Shane Scofield of the Weld County Sheriff’s Office.

Little was known about the driver of the vehicle traveling on Colo. 52 other than he was a male believed to be in his 20s. He did not have identification at the scene, and his name was still unavailable as of Sunday afternoon.

He was traveling west on Colo. 52 near Evergreen in Hudson when he drove off the south side of the roadway, cleared a 10-foot-wide ditch and struck a power pole appromimately 285 feet away at 9:10 p.m. Saturday.

He was unresponsive but breathing and taken by helicopter to North Colorado Medical Center. Alcohol is suspected as a contributing factor to the crash.

A representative from United Power did not have any information on how much of Hudson was affected by the outage or how long it was down. But Scofield said the power was back on by 10 a.m. Sunday when he called to check on it.
