Evans to conduct test of tornado sirens on Wednesday morning

Print Comment
Toto doesn't have to worry. This is only a test.

The Evans Fire Department will conduct a test of its tornado sirens at 10 a.m. on Wednesday. The sirens, located at 2100 37th St. as well as 36th Street and St. Vrain in Evans, are tested every year by the fire department.

Should a tornado ever form, residents are advised to take shelter away from any windows on the lowest level of a structure. Residents are then encouraged to and get under any furniture and protecting their heads and necks, the Web site said. When outdoors, residents are encouraged to find a ditch or depression and cover their head and neck while lying flat.

Those in mobile homes are also encouraged to go outside and find a ditch to lie in during an actual tornado.

For more information, please call the Evans Fire Department at (970) 475-1108.
