Car crashes into pole, knocks out power in Hudson

A vehicle collided with a power pole in Hudson Saturday night and knocked out power to the surrounding area and a man was airlifted to North Colorado Medical Center, according to Weld Sheriff's Department press release.

The crash happened at about 9:10 p.m. near Evergreen and Colo. 52. The vehicle was traveling west on Colo. 52 when the driver drove off the side of the road, learned a 10-foot wide ditch and hit the power pole about 286 feet away. The impact with the power pole resulted in a power disruption. United Power personnel were working late Saturday night to restore power, according to the release.

The driver, a man possibly in his 20s, was found unconscious and nonresponsive, but he was breathing. He was transported via MedEvac to NCMC. The man's identity was not known, according to the release.

Alcohol is suspected as a contributing factor and the investigation is continuing, the release stated.
