GALETON — Firefighters were expected to remain at the scene of a fire most of today that started Tuesday night at the Johnson Dairy. The fire, which may have been started, caused a minimum $100,000 in damage to 1,200 tons of hay and straw.

There were no injuries.

John Johnson, who owns the dairy, said the fire erupted at about 8:30 p.m. and said a car was seen leaving the scene shortly before it started. The stack of 400 tons of hay and 800 tons of straw was just to the south of one of two milking barns at the dairy.

He said he wanted to get the burning material spread out as much as possible prior to a storm front that was expected to move through the area tonight, which could spread the fire.
