Events set for National Day of Prayer

Several events in honor of the National Day of Prayer are scheduled today in Weld County.

« In Greeley a Prayer Rally will be held from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Weld County Centennial Center Plaza, 10th Avenue and 10th Street.

« A Prayer Walk also will be held at 5 p.m., followed by praise and prayer time at 7 p.m. Both events will be at the First Baptist Church, this year's host church, at 10th Avenue and 11th Street.

« In Windsor, a breakfast with speaker Dave Nicholl, 2008 Citizen of the Year, will be at 7-9 a.m., today at the Cornerstone Church, 1200 Cornerstone Drive. Tickets are $5. For more information call Roberta Schippert at (970) 221-2280 or e-mail rschippert@mywdo.com

For more information about today's 57th annual National Day of Prayer, go to www.ndptf.org. The theme for this year is "Prayer! America's Strength and Shield" and is based on Psalm 28:7, "The Lord is my strength and shield; my heart trusts in Him and I am helped."
