The hearing on Senate Bill 247, a late bill introduced in the Colorado General Assembly designed to give some relief to irrigation well owners in the Central Colorado Water Conservancy District, has been re-scheduled again and will be heard for the first time before the Senate Agriculture Committee at 1:30 p.m., where it was originally scheduled.
The bill had been re-scheduled for hearing this morning before the Senate State Affairs Committee, but was re-scheduled again this morning.
The measure could provide water from the Colorado-Big Thompson Project to be used by Central as substitute water for well depletions in its water augmentation — replacement — plan.
The bill is being sponsored by Sens. Greg Brophy, R-Wray and Brandon Shaffer, D-Longmont and in the House by Reps. Cory Gardner, R-Yuma, Mary Hodge, D-Brighton, Glenn Vaad, R-Mead, Wes McKinley, D-Walsh and Ray Rose, R-Montrose.
