Four expelled in Johnstown hazing investigation

Print Comment
JOHNSTOWN -- More than a month after a Roosevelt High School a hazing incident where six students were accused of rubbing their genitals on players' faces, four students have been expelled.

While Dr. Martin Foster, superintendent of the Re-5J School District for Johnstown and Milliken, was unavailable for comment, Bill Hungenberg, assistant superintendent, said that the school district has completed its investigation and expelled four students involved in the incident for the remainder of the school year.

In addition to the four who were expelled, Hungenberg said one student was suspended for a week and another for a month before returning to school. He could not elaborate on the investigation and its findings.

The hearings for the students involved were towards the end of March, Hungenberg said. The expelled students are in homebound education and will be permitted to return to school next year.

The incident took place March 3 during a trip to Delta for a baseball tournament. CBI was brought in towards the end of March to work with the Johnstown Police Department, Delta County Sheriff's Office and the Seventh Judicial District Attorney District Attorney's office to investigate the allegations. That investigation continues.
