The Weld County District Attorney's office has delayed its findings in its investigation of Fort Collins Police Officer Jim Broderick because of the need for more interviews, according to press release from the DA's office.

The investigation into Broderick came after Larimer District Attorney Larry Abrahamson asked Weld District Attorney Ken Buck to investigate allegations that Broderick committed perjury during Tim Masters' 1999 murder trial in January.

In March, the DA's office released a statement that the investigation would be completed by Friday.

According to the press release there have been 28 interviews conducted to date, but a key witness in the investigation has not been interviewed because the attorney for that witness is involved in a federal death penalty trial.

The DA anticipates it will be a minimum of two weeks before the witness can be interviewed and a decision is made.

When asked if the recent discovery of the bracelet Peggy Hettrick was wearing when she was murdered on Feb. 11, 1987 in Fort Collins affected the investigation, Jennifer Finch, community relations director from the District Attorney's office, said Weld DA Ken Buck had no comment about the investigation.

The bracelet is thought to contain the DNA of Hettrik's killer. Masters was acquitted of Hettrick's murder in January after spending close to a decade in prison.
