For bands looking to make fans feel appreciated take note of Nine Inch Nails.

Trent Reznor, the man behind NIN, has released a full length 10-song album "The Slip” on the band’s website for free.

That’s right, as in zero, nada, nothing.

Why?

Just because Reznor loves his fans, and he figures the best way to thank them is to give them more of what they want - free music.

“As a thank you to our fans for your continued support, we are giving away the new nine inch nails album one hundred percent free, exclusively via nin.com.,” a post on the band’s website reads. “Thank you for your continued and loyal support over the years - this one's on me.”

The songs are available in a variety of formats, and all downloads include a PDF artwork. A CD and vinyl version of the album is to be released in June for those who need the physical product.

In March NIN released "Ghosts I-IV" on its website with the first nine songs available for free. The remainder of the 36 new instrumental tracks was available for purchase via the band's site and it reportedly made $1.6 million in the first week. Since then the album has been distributed in stores and websites.

While “The Slip,” comes mere months after “Ghosts I-IV,” it reverts back to the “With Teeth” era. The 43 minute album has Reznor’s signature voice featured on it, and it is less experimental in sound in turn relying more on overdrive and raw guitar that NIN is known for.

The 20-year-old band has found a way not only to keep its music fresh here, but the medium in which it communicates with the listener. NIN is on the cutting-edge of distributing its music directly to the consumer, and not only is it making them more relevant, it is making them more popular. Because you have to love a band that rewards its listeners like this.

NIN will be playing at Red Rocks Sept. 2. Presale for tickets begins Wednesday, with general ticket sales starting on Saturday.

Promises to be a great show, but don't expect it to be free.
