Sister 2 Sister develops leadership in girls

Print Comment
Actress and entertainer Jackie Guerra will talk as part of this summer's Sister 2 Sister conference, a leadership development conference staged by the Girl Scouts.

The annual conference will be June 6-8 at University Center at the University of Northern Colorado. Colorado Girl Scouts, including several Latina Girl Scouts, are planning activities for the event. Activities include a variety of hands-on, experiential learning workshops on self-esteem, goal-setting and college preparation. Last year's event hosted nearly 100 girls.

Deadline to register is June 1.

Guerra will talk about the importance of self love. Girl Guides (the Latina equivalent of Girl Scouts) will attend, giving girls the chance to interact with international friends.

Cost of the three-day, two-night conference and meals is $175. Scholarships are available.

To register, go to the Girl Scouts of Colorado Web site at www.girlscoutsofcolorado.org and search for "Sister 2 Sister Conference." You can also contact Tanya Trujillo-Martinez at (970) 231-0575 or at tanya.trujillo-martinez@gscolorado.org.
