Fox News staffer fired for pro-Republican statement

<a href=http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/fnc/fox_news_assistant_fired_for_red_carpet_disclosure_84468.asp?c=rss>; When a presidential candidate is your journalistic conscience, you know something's wrong.</a>

A 24-year-old Fox News production assistant was fired today after she made comments to presumptive Republican presidential nominee John McCain that she voted for him in the primary and that he's "going to win."

I'm sure there was a moment when McCain looked at the woman incredulously, dumbfounded that someone did what journalists have been taught since at least college not to do.

"You're not supposed to reveal that," McCain told the woman, according to Media Bistro, a blog on media news.

To make matters worse, the whole event was captured on video, so the fired Fox employee can't fib and say that she really told McCain that he's "going to sin" or that "she really likes gin."

A journalist who tells you that they don't have their own personal views on politics — no matter how firmly held they are — is a liar. It's a recurring theme in my blog, admittedly.

We all believe in something, but we don't all tell our political heroes that we voted for them and that they are going to win.

But making a politician like McCain tell you how to behave ethically in your own field, that's more embarrassing than getting fired from Fox News for expressing a blatantly-biased viewpoint, which as we all know never happens on that network or any other one for that matter.

Ha. Yeah, right.
