I would never normally do this sort of thing...

I showed up at Old Chicago’s last night in bright yellow fishnets, flip-flops and shorts. I never imagined myself actually going out in public like this. Ever. But thanks to roller derby, stupid little guidelines you set for yourself get tossed.

There was a practice scrimmage last night. I had just procured a massively SWEET pair of bright yellow fishnet tights from Target. Of course, had to wear them. It is imperative that I become one with the fishnets, feel the fishnet vibe.

(And I need to learn how to skate in them before our bout, without getting them all caught up in the Velcro on my knee pads and wrist guards. Hey, this is more complicated than it looks ...at least for me.)

After practice, a few of us had a committee meeting at Old C’s. By then, I was getting comfortable in the f’nets, and I forgot about how I looked until someone smoking a cigarette outside the front door looked me up and down with a smirk as I walked up.

I asked him what he thought. He asked me what sort of look I was going for.

Yellow fishnet, man. It's so in.

The liberation rolls on.
NEED A WASH?
The Slaughterhouse Derby Girls will be washing motorcycles, and any kind of bike you can ride in, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at the Power Sports Unlimited tent event. It is on 8th Avenue, north of U.S. 34 in Greeley. Fishnet count will most likely be high, stop by for a wash to support your local derby dames.
