Man seriously injured after being attacked by two pit bulls in Greeley

Print Comment
A man was seriously injured on Thursday night after being attacked by two dogs in Greeley.

Gregario Rios, 54, of Greeley was taken to North Colorado Medical Center, 1801 16th Street in Greeley, for serious cuts to his face and ear after he was attacked by two pit bulls at his neighbor's house, 825 12th Street in Greeley.

According to Lt. Steve Nelson of the Greeley Police Department, the dogs belonged to Sherry Gerdie, also known as Sherry Pisano, who lived at the house along with Victor Pisano. Nelson said that Rios came over to feed the dogs since Gerdie was in custody at the Weld County Jail and because Victor Pisano was afraid of them. Once inside the house, however, he was attacked and Victor Pisano called 911.

Nelson said that Victor Pisano's son then came over and secured the dogs in a private car before animal services could arrive. Nelson said the pit bulls were taken to the Weld County Human Society, 1620 42nd St., where they will be investigated as viscous animals.
