Democratic candidates are 'terrifying'

Print Comment
I get concerned with the level of intelligence of Americans when I read about people who still say "Bush lied" while at the same time refuse to acknowledge that the Senate, Hillary Clinton included, voted to send troops.

Contrary to what some "great" minds out there think this country, as well as the world, is much safer without Saddam in power. Our troops have uncovered numerous mass graves that were filled with bodies of people who have been executed under Saddam's regime. There were many more civilians killed by his regime before we invaded than have been killed since.

In case some people have forgotten, Saddam was moving his war machine into Saudi Arabia and would have kept moving and killing had George H.W. Bush not attacked. We saved that region. The mistake we made in the first Gulf War was not to go to Baghdad and get Saddam then. We could have saved many more civilians had we done so.

So now when Saddam breaks the terms of the cease-fire agreement and kicks out the weapons inspectors, we are the bad guys. Explain that please. Personally, I am not concerned if we have "squandered" the good will of the entire world as many have said. The rest of the world was not attacked by radical terrorists losing 3,000 citizens in one day.

I do not want our president thinking that he must get the approval of the United Nations to keep my family safe. I want a president who will act. Many have said that this war has nothing to do with Sept. 11.

How many terrorist attacks on America have we suffered since we went into Afghanistan and Iraq as opposed to before our military action? Coincidence?

One presidential quote that stresses the importance of ridding the world of Saddam was this: "Earlier today I ordered America's armed forces to strike military and security targets in Iraq. Their mission is to attack Iraq's nuclear, chemical and biological weapons programs, and its military capacity to threaten its neighbors. Their purpose is to protect the national interest of the United States, and indeed the interests of people throughout the Middle East and around the world." To me, that sounds like someone who is convinced of the danger that Saddam represented.

Just like the last Democratic president, the two Democratic candidates terrify me. One has an ex-pastor who condemns the United States, saying that the world's ills are because of the United States, and a wife who said that she was never proud of America until now. The other just promises great social programs and to make America the way it was when she was president before. Because, throughout history, socialism has always led to prosperity. Right? Let the soap opera and the terrorist attacks begin again.
