A one time cornerstone of the Greeley mall, Dillard’s is breathing its last breath.
The store was initially supposed to close today, but Julie Bull, Dillard's spokeswoman at the company's headquarters in Little Rock, Ark., said the store will remain open through the end of the month.
Shoppers taking advantage of the final sales today were sad to see the store go.
“I’m very very disappointed because now we have to travel a distance to find good quality clothes,” said Leticia Galindo, 48, of Gill who has shopped at the store since it opened.
Cindy Christensen, 48, of Greeley said she will drive to Centerra in Loveland to shop once Dillard’s closes.
“I’m scared for the mall. I don’t see much going on here,” Christensen said. “I envision a big parking lot or an apartment.”
Dillard’s has been a staple of the east side of the mall for 10 years occupying two spaces with women's, kid’s and men’s clothing along with cosmetics and home furnishings.
With Dillard’s departure J.C. Penney, Sears and the Cinemark Theater are the remaining anchors.
