Firefighters to train at McCowen Hall

Northern Colorado firefighters will train Saturday and Sunday at McCowen Hall at the University of Northern Colorado.

The dorm will be razed this month to make room for the new West Campus Residence Hall complex. The complex's first phase is already under construction.

Union Colony Fire/Rescue Authority, Evans Fire Department and the Eaton Fire Department will conduct high-rise training for about 100 firefighters inside McCowen Hall.

People in the area can expect emergency vehicles, personnel and equipment as fire crews use non-toxic, theatrical smoke to enhance the realism of the training.

Demolition is expected to start at McCowen on Wednesday.
