New section of the Poudre Trail is all washed up

Print Comment
You know that really, cool, awesome new section of the Poudre Trail that connects the Island Grove Regional Park with the Windsor section all the way down to 59th Avenue?

And how this was supposed to connect the two trails and make it one, big, awesome trail enjoyed by everyone?

I was even really excited because the new section of the trail was a "soft" section, meaning it was perfect for runners.

But now? Don't even bother.

The last two times I've tried to run that new section, it's looked more like the Poudre River itself.

Apparently the landowner nearby is irrigating his pasture - at least that's what it looks like to me - and has done a pretty good job of flooding a portion of the new trail in the process.

Sunday I was lucky enough to get some advance warning from some bikers enjoying the trail, so I cut through to F Street and ran that until I rejoined my route back to my house. But that's a major, major bummer, since running that new section of the trail is one of my favorite things to do.

As it turns out, I was near my house when the portion that normally is dry was wet, so I had wet shoes running back to my house regardless.

I'd like to know what's going on with the trail, however. Why is it OK for the trail to be continually underwater for the last month? And doesn't this severely take away from people enjoying it?
