An 11-year-old girl was killed Saturday afternoon when she was ejected from a car that rolled on northbound Interstate 25 near Dacono.
According to Jesse Hodgson, spokesman for the Mountain View Fire District, the girl, who was not identified, was in a Ford Expedition with five others that hit a Subaru about 6:15 p.m. Saturday night and rolled several times, ejecting the girl.
Several other people were taken to local hospitals and none had life-threatening injuries, Hodgson said.
Northbound Interstate 25 near the Erie exit was closed for more than three hours Saturday as investigators worked the accident. Hodgson said about 10 p.m. that he expected the Interstate to reopen shortly.
The girl was pronounced dead at the scene near I-25 and Weld County Road 8 southwest of Dacono.
It was unclear if the girl was wearing her seatbelt, Hodgson said.
The girl was the 20th person to die on Weld County roads this year compared to 25 at this same time last year.
