Skiing
Colorado is famous for its world-class skiing. Many ski areas are in northern Colorado’s back yard.
Arapahoe Basin
A-Basin boasts one of the longest seasons of any resort in North America (Nov.-June) and, at 13,050, the highest skiable terrain in North America as well.
Aspen Mountain
If you want to spot a celeb, you a have a good chance in this ritzy mountain. As for the skiing, Aspen Mountain is strictly for skiers, no boarding allowed. If boarding is your sport, however, hop a free shuttle to one of three nearby resorts —Aspen Highlands, Snowmass and Buttermilk — that welcome riders.
Beaver Creek
Another classy place to ski, the town of Beaver Creek is small but reminiscent of European skiing villages. The ski area offers runs for every skill level which makes it a great destination for families.
Breckenridge
This charming Victorian village has a ski area but that far from everything there is to do there. Breckenridge Ski Area covers four mountains and 2,043 acres. Skiers and boarders are welcome.
Copper Mountain
Skier and riders of all skill level will feel at home at Copper Mountain. Not as glitzy as other resorts, but it’s still a favorite among locals. The town offers shops, restaurants and plenty of other winter recreation.
Crested Butte
Fluffy mountain powder on 1,434 acres... what more could boarders and Skiers ask for? The town of Crested Butte has plenty of winter and summer recreation opportunities.
Durango Mountain
Selected as on of Outdoor Magazines top 15 sports towns, Durango is a great mountain town. Purgatory Ski Area is known for intermediate level skiing but also offers moguls, long runs and scenic beginner runs.
Eldora
As the closest resort to the front range, Eldora provides an something for everyone. Most territory is intermediate. The ski area also has a great cross-country ski park.
Loveland
Beginners will find comfort and lessons at the 1,365 acres of varied terrain at Loveland. More advanced riders and Skiers will find powder with an average of 400 inches of snow per year.
Monarch
No snowmaking machines makes Monarchs pure powder legendary. In business for more than 60 years, visitors find more than just great snow, they find a down-to-earth mountain town too.
Powderhorn
Located on the Western Slope, riders and Skiers will find diversity for every skill level.
Ski Cooper
Friendly atmosphere, excellent service and, of course, terrain for everyone make this resort a family favorite. Cross Country skiing and snowboard park are available, as well.
Steamboat
Five interconnected mountains furnish Steamboat with its famous “champagne powder.” Steamboat’s 2,939 acres are pounded with 330 inches of snow each year affording many other recreational opportunities other than skiing. After a long day on the slopes, don’t forget to take a dip on of Steamboat’s famous hot springs.
Sunlight
Located just outside Glenwood Springs, Sunlight is another family favorite. With 460 acres of ski runs, most trails lead back to the lodge.
Telluride
Known for its short lift lines, Telluride has 3,500 feet vertical feet to keep both riders and skiers of any level challenged.
Vail
Known all over the world, Vail boasts 32 lifts and an amazing 5,164 acres featuring everything from beginner runs to expert back bowls. Snowboarders will revel in the 15-foot-deep half pipe with 17 foot transitions at the Golden Peak Half Pipes and Park.
Winter Park / Mary Jane
With the most consistent snow of any other Colorado resort, “The Jane” averages more than 370 inches a year. Skiers and boarders love the 2,886 acres of beginner, intermediate and advanced hills.
